The Decision Maker is a free custom wheel that picks one option from your own list. Type or paste up to 100 options, spin, and the wheel lands on a fair random winner. You can weight slices, remove each winner, start from templates like what to eat, and save or share your wheel.

How the wheel spinner picks a fair winner

A decision wheel is only useful if you can trust it. Every spin starts with a random number from the Web Crypto API in your browser. That number picks the winner first, then the wheel spins and slows down to land on it. The animation never changes the result.

With equal slices, every option has exactly the same chance. Eight options means a one in eight chance each, or 12.5 percent. Rejection sampling removes the tiny tilt that can creep in when a big random number is squeezed into a small range.

Weighted slices change the odds out in the open. Give Pizza a weight of 3 while the others stay at 1, and the Pizza slice grows to three times the size. The chance shown next to each option always matches the slice you see.

Remove winner takes each winner off the wheel when you spin again. It is a fair way to set an order, such as who goes first, second and third, or to work down a list until one option is left.

Fair by design

  • Picked with the Web Crypto API
  • Slice size always matches the odds
  • Winner locked in before the spin
  • Your options never leave your device

Ideas for a custom wheel

  • What to eat

End the dinner debate. Load the What to eat template or add your favorite local spots, then let the wheel choose.

  • What to watch

Put a few shows or movie genres on the wheel and spin once. No more scrolling for an hour before picking something.

  • Who goes first

Use the Who goes first template with player names, and turn on remove winner to set the whole turn order.

  • Chores and jobs

Make a chore wheel for the house or a job wheel for class helpers. Save it so it is ready every week.

  • Weekend plans

List a few outings and let the wheel plan your Saturday. Weighted slices let favorite ideas come up more often.

  • Giveaways and streams

Streamers and clubs spin a custom wheel to pick prizes or challenges live. Fullscreen fills the screen for everyone watching.

Tips and variations

  • Paste a list. Copy a column from a spreadsheet or a notes app and paste it in. Each line becomes a slice, up to 100 options.
  • Use weighted slices. Set a weight from 1 to 10 for each option. An option with weight 2 has twice the chance of an option with weight 1.
  • Remove winners. Each winner leaves the wheel on the next spin. Press Put back to return every removed option.
  • Save your wheels. Saved wheels stay in this browser. Load one in a tap, or update it by saving again with the same title.
  • Share a wheel. The share link carries the title, options and weights, so a friend can spin the exact same wheel.

For a simple yes or no, use the Yes or No Wheel. To split people into groups, try the Random Team Generator, or use Pick a Number for a numbered list.

We spun the decision wheel two million times

On October 23, 2026, we ran the code behind this wheel 1,000,000 times on the eight option What to eat template, then 1,000,000 more times with weights, using the same random source your browser uses.

  • 125,281

Wins for Sushi, the most of any option

The fewest went to Salad with 124,732. A perfect split is 125,000 each.

  • 0.22 percent

Largest miss from a perfect split

No option strayed more than 281 wins from 125,000, out of 1,000,000 spins.

  • 30.07 percent

Pizza wins with a weight of 3

With Pizza at 3 and seven other options at 1, it holds 3 of 10 shares, or 30 percent. It won 300,709 times.

  • 87 spins

Longest wait for Pizza to win

With equal slices, Pizza once went that many spins in a row without winning. Long dry spells are a normal part of real randomness.

  • 12,389 to 12,748

Times each option was the last one left

Across 100,000 games with remove winner on, every one of the eight options finished last close to one time in eight.

  • 2,000,000

Spins that landed on the picked slice

Out of 2,000,000 spins, every stop matched the winner chosen before the spin.

Every option won close to its fair share, and weights moved the odds exactly as far as the slices show.

Frequently asked questions

How does the decision maker wheel work?

Type your options into the box, one per line, and press Spin the wheel. The winner is picked at random before the wheel moves, then the wheel spins and lands on it.

Is the decision wheel random and fair?

Yes. It uses the Web Crypto API in your browser with rejection sampling, so equal slices have exactly equal odds. With weights on, each option wins in line with the size of its slice.

How many options can I add to a custom wheel?

You can add from 2 to 100 options, with up to 60 characters each. Long options shrink to fit on the wheel and show in full in the result card.

Can I make some options more likely?

Yes. Turn on Weighted slices and give any option a weight from 1 to 10. Its slice grows to match, and the exact chance shows next to each option.

What does remove winner do?

It takes each winner off the wheel when you spin again. This is handy for setting a turn order or working through a list. Press Put back to return every removed option.

Can I save my wheel?

Yes. Press Save wheel and it is kept in this browser under its title. Saved wheels show up in a list where you can load or delete them.

How do I share my decision wheel?

Press Share wheel to copy a link or open your share menu. The link holds the title, the options and any weights, so it opens the same wheel for anyone.

Should I let a wheel make important decisions?

No. The wheel is random and meant for fun and low stakes choices. Do not use it for medical, legal, financial or safety decisions.
