About Yes or No Tools

Yes or No Tools is a free collection of fair, fast random tools. Spin a yes or no wheel, pick a number, split a group into teams or find a random animal to draw. Every tool works right in your browser, with no account and no sign up.

What Yes or No Tools is

Yes or No Tools is a set of small, playful tools for making random choices. Each one does a single job well, from a spinning yes or no wheel to a team picker, a number wheel and generators for letters, animals, countries and everyday objects.

The tools are used by teachers, students, families, friends, streamers and adults. A teacher might pick whose turn it is to read. A group of friends might settle where to eat. A streamer might let a wheel choose the next challenge.

Why we built it

Most random wheel sites look and work the same. Many are slow, crowded and thin on features. We wanted tools that feel good to use, load fast on any phone and give you more control, such as adjustable odds, elimination modes and links that reopen your exact setup.

We also wanted to be open about how the results are made, so you can trust that a spin is really random.

How the tools work

Each tool runs on the page itself. When you spin or generate, your browser picks the result first and then the animation plays out to land on it. The wheel never decides at the last second, and no server chooses for you.

Your settings and history are saved in the local storage of your own browser, so they are still there next time you visit. You can clear them at any time from the tool or from your browser settings.

How randomness is generated

We use the Web Crypto API that is built into every modern browser. It is the same source of randomness that browsers use for security work, and it is much stronger than the basic random function that many sites rely on.

We also use a method called rejection sampling. Turning a large random number into a small range, such as 1 to 6, can make a few results slightly more likely than others. Rejection sampling throws away the rare values that would cause that tilt and draws again, so every option gets exactly the odds it should.

Fun first, low stakes only

Results are random and meant for fun and low stakes choices. Please do not use them for medical, legal, financial or safety decisions, or anything where a wrong answer could cause harm.

What happens when you spin

  1. 1

    You press spin

The tool asks your browser for a fresh random number from the Web Crypto API.

  2. 2

    The result is locked in

That number picks the result before any animation starts, using the exact odds you set.

  3. 3

    The wheel lands on it

The spin plays out and slows down onto the chosen slice. Nothing changes at the last second.
